As I start this blog, I hope to not offend some of my female readers, but I say about my comments as I say about other's comments, consider the source. In no way am I against the homemakers of the world who are instrumental in raising the future generations hopefully toward a better world than we now live in.
That being said I am saddened by the image of a class that I just came out of. It is a Physics lab covering the second semester class material. I am the only female in the class. The TA is male and all of my classmates are male. I don't understand this at all and I find it frustrating. Where is it written that you have to be male to excel in science? I have had to fight my way into the science circle and I thought that in this day and age, people of the female sex have gained strides in the science industry. This is why I love knowing that one of my scholarships was for the fact that I am a female, pursuing a science degree.
I also have to say that in no way have the classmates or the TA deemed me inferior. I guess they have yet to be put to the test in this matter because I have yet to complete a lab. It is not to say that a woman should persue the lengthy degrees that are science majors instead of pursuing a family, but I would like to see a few more female science majors in Utah. Nothing against the state, but I see too many females coming to school to get married thinking nothing of what scholastic achievements they could and should strive for in the meantime. Marriage is not guaranteed to everyone. Plus, think of how you can inspire your little ones, both male and female, to literally reach for the stars and labs that are on the forefront of innovation. That is my wish.

I'm just not any good at math or science, I actually do my best to avoid it in it's advanced forms.
I was going for a degree in Mass Comm. I thought about English, but decided journalism would be way more fun.
So I think people are just different.
My sister was one of the only females going into computer programing when she did.
I was actually hoping to get through college without getting married, but somehow that dream died... hmm.
I wasn't judging everyone. I just saw so many girls in my class and none are in the lab. I know that everyone has different career paths and are free to choose what they want.
I truly believe that most women, and generally men, just don't want to get into science, it takes a lot of forehead. There are lots of women getting degrees and having careers, but they are usually in teaching, other than math and science, and business and communications. You are just really different than most women in what excites you.
