I got an email from my department today telling me that I needed to go into the department and pick up my luncheon tickets. While I was there I was stopped by my last Geology professor and he asked me how everything was going. I told him about my job at the middle school and he was really excited for me. I also found out which award I received from the department; even though I had a suspicion that I received the award that I got.
I got, for the second year in a row, the outstanding earth science teaching major award. This came with a gift card because it was for 2 consecutive years!! Anyone that knows me knows that I like to be the best at academics. I don't care about sports or health, but academically, I try to blow people out of the water. This award means a lot to me. It means that I am doing a good job as a teacher and as a student. It means that my department appreciates me. I feel bad that I didn't go to the awards banquet, but I couldn't miss work in order to do that. I don't want to miss out on that much work with my students. It makes me really happy.
It is my final capping achievement as an undergraduate. I am not sure if they do awards in my Masters program. It has just been a really good day and I thought that it was time for a good update.
